QUOTES THAT DESCRIBE ME BETTER THAN I CAN!
Anya: She's newly human, and strangely literal.

Xander: You're not coming.
Andrew: What? Why? 'Cause I used to be evil?
Xander: No, actually, because you're annoying, but that's a good reason, too.
--Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Linguini: So, let's think this out-- you know how to cook, and I know how to... appear human.
--Ratatouille

You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.
--C.S. Lewis

Niles: I've always liked the thought of meeting the great people of history, but then I think, "What if it's like high school and none of the really cool dead people want to talk to me?" Mozart'll tell me he's busy, but then later i'll see him out with Shakespeare and Lincoln!
--Frasier

Now why did I do that?
--Last words of William Erskine, who had just jumped out of a window

I have watched so much television that I am now a genius.
--Chuck Klosterman

Mickey: What's a horse doing on a spaceship?
Doctor: Mickey, what's pre-revolutionary France doing on a spaceship? Get a little perspective.
--Doctor Who

A sandwich, and a cup of coffee, and then off to violin-land, where all is sweetness, and delicacy, and harmony, and there are no red-headed clients to vex us with their conundrums.
--Sherlock Holmes

Ogarev: What were you and Granovsky arguing about?
Herzen: The immortality of the soul.
Ogarev: Oh, that.

Tatiana: Yes, the case requires a critic of literature.
They all look to Belinsky.
Belinsky: We have no literature.
--The Coast of Utopia

Then the idiot who praises, with enthusiastic tone,
All centuries but this, and every country but his own
--The Mikado

She keeps thinking she can explain things in words.

THE BASICS!
Hi! The name's Maddi. I'm currently 19, though that's subject to change. I like elephants and octopi. I, for one, welcome our new cephalopod overlords. I'm a drama geek who's too intimidated by other drama geeks to be a real drama geek. I'm completely in love with multiple fictional, historical, and generally unavailable men, and sometimes men that exist. I'm the most arrogant insecure person you will ever meet. I'm closer to my family than to my friends. I prefer fandom to parties. I have never been in a relationship, and I'm completely bitter about it. I am the worst speller ever. I'm witty. I'm agnostic. I'm annoyingly opinionated. I don't drink or take drugs. I talk funny. At 5'7", I'm the shortest person among those whom society would call my family. Those which I consider my family include a mother ("Mom"), a father ("Dad"), an Asperger's brother ("Russell"), my stepdad ("Charlie"), his mother who lives across the street ("Shirley") and several other of his extended family members ("Heather and Shaun", "John and Toby"), a stepmom ("Annika"), her two kids ("Erik" and "Tess"), the man who lives in her basement no seriously ("Stephan"), my laptop ("Hepa"), and the University of Michigan ("UMich") and New York ("Giants") football teams.

FANNISH THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ME, AS THIS IS A LIVEJOURNAL!
I like a ridiculous amount of TV shows, but I'm only really active in the Doctor Who/Torchwood fandom TV-wise (though not to say I don't know about other fandoms. Mostly through [info]fandomsecrets, so that might explain why I'm not in other fandoms... Also, I read a lot of Who crossover fic with said fandoms.) Feel free to friend me based on other shows-- I watch Lost, House, NCIS, Merlin, Avatar: The Last Airbender, HIMYM, Pushing Daisies, Heroes, Supernatural, Bones, Mad Men, Life On Mars (US), Numb3rs, Fringe, Terminator, Gossip Girl, The Big Bang Theory, Moonlight, Psych, The 4400, Kyle XY, Firefly, Buffy/Angel, Lie to Me, United States of Tara, and The West Wing, Leverage, and sometimes other shows.

My new shiny fandom is Star Trek XI (which I saw six times in theaters 'cause I'm pretty sad); I'm totally in love with Spock/Uhura (OTP OTP OTP) and PAVEL ANDREIEVICH CHEKOV. I mostly read genfic, or gen with some shippy undertones, and I have a rec list of sorts in my memories under the "Star Trek" tag. And it's sort of been a gateway drug as I assume it's been to many-- I'm on S2 of TOS (How much do I love DeForest Kelley? A slightly ludicrous amount, is how much I love DeForest Kelley), the TNG movies (Picard. Q. Picard and Q.), and S6 of DS9 (Cardassians!).

In the non-TV realm of things, I love Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Shakespeare, Faerie Wars, Tamora Pierce, Scott Westerfeld, Jane Austen, Jasper Fforde, and lots of fantasy/sci-fi that no one's ever heard of. I like most things dystopia and Regency-era. I'm a big theater nerd (I'm sort of hoping to go into a related career) and my favorite playwrights are Tom Stoppard, Edward Albee, Aaron Sorkin, Tom Stoppard, Stephen Karam, and Tom Stoppard. I'm not much of a comic booker, but I loved Watchmen (especially Jon and Dan/Laurie).

Thanks to fandom, I've recently had a resurgence of anime adoration-- I like all kinds; my favorites are Yu Yu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, Shugo Chara!, Zoids Chaotic Century, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, Fruits Basket, and Full Moon Wo Sagashite. I recently finished Nabari no Ou, which stretched out too long, Princess Tutu, which ended perfectly (and is probably one of my favorite animes ever), and Code Geass (Shirley/Lelouch OTP), which ended far too soon, and Gundam Wing (check the "gundam wing snark post" tag), which... ended.

In Doctor Who fandom: I got involved with New Who through an Anglophile friend, fell in love, and am slowly making my way through Classic Who. I recently got into the Big Finish audios and am completely obsessed (I've listened to all the Eight/Charley/C'rizz audios and am making my way through Five, Six, and Eight/Lucie). My favorite Doctor is by far Eight, but I like pretty much everything.

Though it's not really fandom, I'm a huuuge football fan (I live and die with the Michigan Wolverines and the New York Giants), and a slightly-less-huge college basketball fan (I love the underdog no matter who it is. Unless it's Ohio State.)

WHAT GOES ON IN THE JOURNAL!
My journal is a combination of random real life stuff mostly about college, meta discussions, tons of memes, sports gushing, fandom rambles, news-ish updates on my favorite shows (and sometimes actual news), quotage of shows and people, flying stingrays, and rants about the failure of the general universe. If I'm in a particularly fannish mood I also make icons and fanmixes, review episodes, books and movies, and have just started vidding.

MY REAL LIFE, BECAUSE YOU CARE!
I'm currently at Boston University. I just switched my major to English, and I want to study theater and drama and playwriting and I plan to be a theater or movie critic, hence all the pretentious meta in my journal. I'm in my third semester of Japanese, my interest in which-comes-completely-separately-from-my-love-of-anime-god-damnit (it does! My dad lived in Japan for a few years when he was little and I knew the Japanese words for things like "car" before I'd even heard of anime. Of course I forgot it all before I got to college...). And I'm currently taking French as well, so that's confusing. I live in the Japanese house, which is full of hilarious characters, and my life is full of ridiculous coincidences which will eventually hopefully send me to a comfortable retirement in the form of a memoir.

IF YOU WANT TO FRIEND ME!
If you want to friend me, just drop a comment saying hi, and I'll friend you back! I'm pretty lax with the friending thing.

CREDITS AND THINGS!
My mood theme is by [info]cowboyhd, any icons that do not explicitly state otherwise are made by me, so please ask if you want to snag 'em. Bones colorbar is by the lovely [info]blue_hobbit.

At Tara in this fateful hour / I place all Heaven with its power / And the sun with its brightness / And the snow with its whiteness / And the fire with all the strength it hath / And the lightning with its rapid wrath / And the winds with their swiftness along their path / And the sea with its deepness / And the rocks with their steepness / And the earth with its starkness / All these I place / By God’s almighty help and grace / Between myself and the powers of darkness
